Towards Understanding the Role of the Environment in the Triumvirate of Human, Computer and Environment Interactions with Large Displays

There has been little research into the role of the spatial properties of the environment and their effect on interaction. In particular, the evaluation of largescale ambient displays is problematic without a framework for understanding the influence of the built environment on interaction. This paper proposes that theories from architecture, such as space syntax, could be developed for analyzing the interaction between highly mobile users and large-scale displays.
